Scrutton Bland has made a donation of £5,000 to Colchester Food Bank. The professional services firm which has an office in Colchester made the donation earlier this week to ensure that the food bank is able to stock up with provisions for those in need at this time of year.
“When times are hard, we all have to respond to help the community,” said Paul Goddard, Risk and Assurance Partner at Scrutton Bland. “We created the Scrutton Bland Foundation CIC specifically so we could support local charities. Employees can donate to the foundation on a monthly basis directly from their salaries and the total amount is then matched by our Partners before being donated to local charities.”
Colchester Food Bank’s CEO Michael Beckett commented: “A huge thank you to Scrutton Bland Foundation for their generous gift of £5,000. This helps the busiest food bank in the East of England to provide meals for vulnerable local people in crisis; 43% of those we help are children. We aspire for a future when food banks aren’t needed, until then, the food bank will work to alleviate suffering and help people to get out of a crisis, so they don’t need to rely on the food bank and can live life to the full.”
Julia Furey, Admin Assistant and CSR committee member at Scrutton Bland added: “As a business and group of individuals who live and work locally, we enjoy supporting local charities and regularly take part in fundraising and volunteering for local causes. We donate to a variety of charitable causes and engage in numerous fundraising and volunteering activities.”
