Scrutton Bland have won the Nexia International Football Tournament in London. The East Anglian professional services firm hosted the five-a-side competition which saw 17 teams from accountancy and tax businesses across the globe compete at Powerleague Shoreditch in London on Saturday 16 September.
As winners of the previous competition, Scrutton Bland were the UK hosts for this year’s Nexia International Football Tournament. It was last held in Paris in 2019 and had been repeatedly delayed due to the repercussions of the pandemic.
Scrutton Bland were supported by Saffery, an accountancy and tax advice firm with offices across England and Scotland. Together they welcomed colleagues from other accountancy firms who had travelled from Dubai, South Africa, Spain, France and The Netherlands to compete for the prestigious trophy.
The five-a-side competition is an annual event and brings teams from around the world together to battle for the prestigious Nexia International Football Tournament trophy.
The semi-finals saw Saffery fourth team vs Scrutton Bland second team and Saffery third and S&A first teams compete for a place in the final. At the end of some tight matches, the final match of the tournament saw Scrutton Bland second team play against Saffery third team –an intense final that ended with 3-1 score in favour of Scrutton Bland! It was a remarkable achievement, especially in the hot and humid conditions of east London on a Saturday afternoon.

Our football teams are playing particularly well at the moment and we have won some top regional competitions, but the Nexia International Football Tournament is the big one.
