Scrutton Bland is delighted to welcome back Laura Bloom as Assistant to the Audit Managers in their Corporate Services team. Laura left the firm in 2012 to raise a family, and then worked in industry, but has rejoined the firm to further assist their growth strategy.
Laura first joined Scrutton Bland in 2000, working for their Business Advisory department, and took her AAT and ACCA accountancy exams in 2006. Having risen through the ranks to become an Assistant Manager, she left the firm in 2012 to have her second child. After a few years Laura then worked for a local waste management firm as finance manager, overseeing new systems, and managing their transition to cloud accounting. She then left to work helping to provide accountancy services for small businesses, before the coronavirus hit, and the world changed. Laura decided to move back to her former stamping ground and bring her years of commercial experience to the financial services operation.
“It is lovely to be back with Scrutton Bland,” says Laura. “Lots of the technology and systems have changed since I was last here, but I’m delighted to recognise so many names and faces, both of office staff, and also the clients. Working in industry for a number of years has given me an insight into what clients need to know, and I’m really looking forward to using my experience to provide beneficial advice for them.
The working environment is fun and supportive. The team have been great at welcoming me back and are keen to know my opinion and suggestions. I’m able to work from home, at clients, and in the office, so it’s nice to get out and about and meet new people. We’ve had coffee vans onsite at the office providing coffee and treats, a pizza and karting evening with the team – It’s good to be back!”
Sue Gull, one of Scrutton Bland’s Audit Partners commented: “Laura’s perspective of the commercial side of accounting will enable her to proactively offer the appropriate guidance to our clients. Understanding how they operate and the pressures that they face can only help us to provide a better service all round. It’s great to have her return to the team!”
