Scrutton Bland are delighted to have acted as lead advisers on the acquisition of Buckhatch Nursery and Garden Centre by Perrywood Limited on 25 September 2024.
This is the second acquisition the Scrutton Bland Corporate Finance team have supported the Perrywood Group with, following their purchase of the former Wyevale Garden Centre in Sudbury in 2018 – now Perrywood Sudbury.
Buckhatch Nursery and Garden Centre
Buckhatch Nursery and Garden Centre is located close to Chelmsford in south Essex and expands Perrywood’s footprint across the region. It comes at the same time as the Sudbury site redevelopment is in full flow.
The garden centre will continue to trade as Buckhatch Nursery and Garden Centre until it’s rebranded as Perrywood Buckhatch early in 2025, ahead of what will be a busy spring season.
Perrywood Limited
Perrywood Limited is an award-winning independent, family-owned garden centre and nursery run by two generations of the Bourne family. Alan Bourne is Director and Plant Buyer. Karin Bourne has retired from day-to-day operations. Their three children – Hannah Powell (Communications & HR Director), Simon Bourne (Retail Director), and Tristan Bourne (Operations Director) – make up the rest of the Board.
Originating as a nursery growing potatoes and strawberries in the 1950’s at their site in Tiptree Essex, they moved into plant sales in the early 80’s and have grown over the last 40 years into an award-winning garden centre attracting customers from across Essex, Suffolk and beyond.
Their vision is to inspire people to have more plants in their lives and to offer a memorable garden centre experience by delivering wow customer service and giving employees, customers, suppliers and the local community a reason to smile.
